Thomas Titus
 When Thomas Titus wakes up in the morning he knows his day’s work will be with his customers for the rest of their lives.

“I love that,” said Titus, tattoo artist and owner of Top Cat Tattoo, which recently opened its second location at 1004 Main St. in Red Wing.

“I love the permanency of it. There is no way you can lose your tattoo.”

Titus said he plans to spend most of his time at the Red Wing location. His other studio is located in Rochester. The Pine Island native said he is meticulous in his work and takes the time necessary to make sure his customers leave with a smile.

  

“I’m very strict on what I do.” Titus said. “I don’t want a bad tattoo walking around with my name on it. I take pride in what I do. That’s the biggest thing.”

Top Cat Tattoo’s Red Wing location has been open for two weeks. Titus said the first week was slow, but business in the second week picked up considerably.

His Main Street location also affords him other business opportunities.

The building he rents has “lots of potential,” meaning lots of extra space. Titus is considering utilizing that space for an art gallery, a music shop or some other endeavour.

Titus said he began tattooing four years ago.

He said he was always artistic and was introduced to tattooing when he began drawing pictures as templates for tattoos. He then took the next step and became a tattoo artist himself.
